  • MUST BE CURRENT ON: Bordatella, Rabies, and Distemper/Parvo*

  • HIGHLY RECOMMENDED: Canine Flu & Leptospirosis. Please speak with your vet about these, and make an educated decision for your dog based on risk factors.

*Little known facts about our vaccine REQUIREMENTS:

  • Vaccines are required.

  • The bordatella vaccine is not as common as you may think... you may THINK your dog has all his/her shots, please, double check this vaccine. If the dog has never had the Bordatella vaccine, they will require two shots, given several weeks apart before being considered Current/Up-to-date.

  • We do not accept self-administered vaccines. All vaccine records must be confirmed at a veterinary clinic/organization.

BOARDING FAQS

Answers To All Your Questions

Q) I WILL BE STAYING IN TOWN WHILE MY DOG IS AT SDHL, AM I ALLOWED TO TAKE MY DOG OUT DURING THE DAY?

OF COURSE! Would you go to Disney and leave the kids with a babysitter? The beach is dog heaven! We encourage you to enjoy it with your best friend. You are welcome to take your dog out anytime during open business hours.  On days when we're open from 8AM-6PM, we appreciate having the pups back by 5 for dinnertime. Please let us know if your pooch is playing in the ocean; it will give us the reason for the diarrhea we see later in the day or the next morning.
Remember to ask the staff for recommendations on Lincoln City's best dog-friendly spots.

Q) MY DOG HAS SPECIAL NEEDS (MEDICATIONS, SPECIAL DIET, EXTREME SIZE, ELDERLY & ARTHRITIC, ANXIETY, ETC). IS SDHL ABLE TO ACCOMMODATE MY SPECIAL NEEDS PUP?

-SDHL staff are notified of all special needs animals on site. The dog will have close supervision during his or her stay. We are able to give any types of medication that you bring for your dog (including, but not limited to, pills, injections, topical and dietary medications).

-PLEASE CLEARLY LABEL ALL MEDICATIONS AND INSTRUCTIONS.-

-Elderly dogs are closely supervised for getting “worn out” during their stay.  We try to encourage the seniors to hang out on one of the soft beds in the Daycare room and try to limit their activity level so that they don’t over-exert themselves.

-SDHL can accommodate almost any sized dog; we’ve had happy guests ranging from 4lbs to 170lbs.

Please contact Liza directly to discuss how SDHL can care for your special needs pooch.

Q) WHAT SHOULD I PACK FOR MY DOG'S VISIT TO SDHL?

We have everything your dog will need to have a very comfortable stay, including, but not limited to:

  • Safe, secure kennels

  • Dry Food (PurinaProPlan)

  • Canned food available for sale in the lobby

  • Raised Cots (PetCots)

  • Clean Bedding (Wash N' Zip Pet Beds- NOW AVAILABLE FOR SALE)

  • Blankets

  • Stainless steel food dishes

  • Doggy sweatshirts

  • Bath mats

  • Mounted water bowls

  • Rubber flooring for temperature and padding

  • Kongs and peanut butter

  • Filled bones available for purchase.

That being said, how often do you travel without at least one personal item? You are welcome to bring any of your pet’s belongings that you would like, with the exception of food bowls.

Special Cases:

  • Dogs with special diets or allergies: we will feed whatever you bring, however you instruct. Portioned meals are GREATLY appreciated; bonus points for clearly written instructions. Yes, we have refrigeration if needed.

  • If your dog is young, or a known chewer, please bring his or her own bedding. Fully washable bedding is appreciated. If a SDHL Bed is chewed beyond repair, 50% of cost of bed will be applied at checkout.

  • If your dog doesn't have experience boarding, or has separation anxiety, an item of your clothing is recommended; something you wouldn't be heartbroken to lose to teeth, but something that smells like you and home.

  • If your dog is on medications, make sure you pack enough for his or her visit. Bonus points for arriving with Pill Pockets.

The dogs are in their kennels from approximately 7:30PM until 7AM, we provide as safe of a place as we can for them during that time, but dogs are dogs, and destruction does happen.  For this reason, we cannot guarantee that toys & bedding will be in the same condition as they were upon arrival.
